Welcome to our eleventh FotoFriday session at CRLiterature!

Several months ago, we relaunched FotoFriday at CRLiterature, and here's the next installment. Last week, neurotype-on-discord gave us this image as a prompt:

All This ( Useless Beauty ) by Phostructor

And here are the pieces inspired by that image:

A Jar of Metal
He strolled into the antiques mall with purpose and a bit of a grin inside. “These folks don’t even know what they’ve got,” He thought as he pulled a camera from his bag. “I shall pillage and plunder this visual cornucopia and they will never know the riches I’ve taken!”
He turned on the camera, and took a couple of shots without even looking, knowing that there would be interesting photos no matter where the lens was pointing. Then he flipped out the articulated viewfinder and held the camera at his waist, looking down into it as if using a really old fashioned camera. He would concentrate on general composition rather than dwelling on the details. He could rely on the camera to focus properly, and he could edit anything else later. The place was so random it seemed a good way to start.
In the viewfinder he saw an old set of bedsprings hanging from the ceiling, with archaic kitchen implements depending fro
strange my thoughtsthe road to his heart -
through kitchen or bedroom? ah,
it's over my head...
A Perfect CakeShe grabbed the whisk and set it on the counter, blinking back the tears. She had already put up the onions; there was no real reason for her to be crying now.
It was so pointless, the way they were living their lives. He said he would call if he had to stay late, but he never did.
She whisked the cake batter around. Maybe tomorrow she would go out and try to find a job again.
Right now, she had to get the cake baked, decorated, and on the table before he got home.
It, at least, would be perfect.
Handmade LessonsHe decided to raise the baby well.
(He had decided this previously, but the newest plan only clicked and secured in the hardest throes of grief.)
That was why he designed the baby mobile and cot from scratch. They were perfect and ready for when it returned from social services. They were filled with lessons.
The baby cried as it left the social woman’s arms to the father’s calloused hands. She told him not to worry about that and it’ll be fine. He fed the crying baby as the social woman watched, and when the social woman left he took the baby to the cot.
(The real one. Not the Ikea cot in the decoy nursery.)
The skeleton of the cot was normal enough, but he had wrapped it in a football net, so the baby would learn that it was caught and trapped. No one chose to be born. Not even him or the child’s mother. Everyone was pushed in and everyone was ripped out. And in the middle, everyone struggled.
He put it in the cot, and wiped the wet tiredness from his cheeks.

Please be kind enough to share your thoughts and comments (maybe even favorite if you like their work). They've posted their work for the world to see, and we thank them for getting involved!

How does FotoFriday Work?

Every other Friday we will post a photograph from a deviant's gallery that we find intriguing and interesting. Using this photograph as a prompt, you are encouraged to write somethinganythingbased on it. It doesn't matter what form of writing, how much you write or even whether you end up with a complete piecethis is all about the prompt and what it inspires!

Are there any rules?

There is only one ruleRESPECT THE PHOTOGRAPHER! At the end of the day, we are using their image and therefore should be offering full credit to them in our artists' comments. We also ask that no one uses the image as a preview image.
Please note: the #CRLiterature team has asked photographers via #CRPhotography if we can use their work in this way. If you are a photographer who is interested in you work possibly being used, please sign up via #CRPhotography!
